Allow in Arabic

The word “allow” can have different translations in Arabic depending on the context and the nature of the permission being granted.

أَذِنَ Adhina

Allow in Arabic is أَذِنَ pronounced as Adhina in past, يَأْذَنُ Ya’dhanu in present and اِئْذَنْ in Command.

Past- Adhina

Present- Ya’dhanu

Command- I’dhan

أَذِنَ – يَأْذَنُ – اِئْذَنْ

– ائْذَنْ لِي فِي الانْصِرَافِ بَاكِرًا الْيَوْمَ.- Permit me to leave early today. I’dhan Li fi Al Insiraf baakiran Alyawm.

ﺳَﻤَﺢَ SamaHa

  • past tense- he samaHa ﺳَﻤَﺢَ- she samaHat ﺳَﻤَﺤَﺖ- I samaHtu ﺳَﻤَﺤﺖُ
  • present tense- he yasmaHu ﻳَﺴﻤَﺢُ – she tasmaHu ﺗَﺴﻤَﺢُ – I ‘asmaHu ﺃَﺳﻤَﺢُ

Ask Permission

Past- Ista’dhana

Present- Yasta’dhinu

Command- Ista’dhin

اِسْتَأْذَنَ – يَسْتَأْذِنُ – اسْتَأْذِنْ

هَلِ اسْتَأْذَنَكَ فِي قِيَادَةِ السَّيَّارَةِ؟ -Did he ask your permission to drive the car? Hal Ista’dhanaka fi qiyada Assayara?

يَجِبُ أَنْ أَسْتَأْذِنَ جِيرَانِي أَوَّلًا. -I have to ask my neighbors permission first. Yajib an Asta’dhina Jeerani Awalan.
